Totally agree! I was appalled by some peoples suggestion to those still stuck in BEC to "enjoy the moment" on behalf of others and "not to be a spoilsport". It is really very unfair, but you know what, like arihant says, it'll be like, "See you at IV in September" (when the October VB comes out) to continue.
Only difference is, you'd have "filed" 485 and if lucky you'd have gotten a receipt, because you might as well kiss your AP & EAD goodbye because there is no way they can process this ton load of apps any time soon.
I hope USCIS finally sees the injustice that has be meted out to the all the folks - whether in BEC or not - and process the application in a FIFO basis.
All those who are still waiting in BEC black hole, I feel for you. I was stuck in BEC for four years. Only managed to get out a couple of months ago after they allowed TR cases to be converted to RIR.
I tend to think the same way as chanduv23. Our final goal is a Green card, and it may still turn out that the people who are currently still waiting in BEC may end up getting their GC in hand before many of the ones that can apply for 485 in July.
The reason is that USCIS has clearly stated that it will retrogress big time in September. So, people with recent PDs may get to file their 485 but may have to wait for a long time for their PD to become current again to get the approval notice (folks, I am not wishing ill against any group here! I wish we all got our GCs ASAP. But since that is not going to happen, just trying to analyze facts). On the other hand, if BEC comes through with their sep 07 prediction, then these people with much older PDs may be able to apply for their 140/485 at that time and may end up getting their GC 6-12 months later because their PDs will still be current at the time of approval (Of course, this is assuming that they will not get caught in the Name Check Black hole)
So, all those who are still stuck in BEC, please hang in there, your day of freedom will arrive (maybe sooner than you are currently thinking).

I would change my contribution to $50 monthly if we have 1000+ members to sign up for the monthly contribution. Meanwhile, I would cancel my contribution if this goal cannot be achieved by all our 8400 members within the next two months. I cannot see any point if most people who suffer from the possibility of waiting for years would not contribute while I, who might be one of the least painful ones, contribute.
Well said. Very much how I feel.

Oh is paraphrasing the news article:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/5786850.html
Nothing new about that, he is copying news from here and there most of the time. But he provides good service to the community by keep an eye on whatever is going on.
These developments indicate the things are progressing well and we are on the right track. That's why, as a last measure, CHC had to do a press conference on the steps of the Congress to put pressure on the House Leadership/Speaker. It shows that CHC and House leadership are on opposing side of the issue and that is why CHC had to openly show this difference of opinion. It indicates that the House leadership have made a decision about moving forward the Lofgren bills. This news item indicates an excellent development.
And it appears, while CHC is putting pressure on House leadership for not doing Lofgren bills, IV is asking us all to call (and put pressure) on CHC members to support Lofgren bills. Smart move, I will call again today.
lost_stranger, I suggest we not attack the undocumented because it doesn't help us in any way, rather attacking undocumented hurts us all the way. CHC is doing some impression management to show it to their constituents saying that they did all that they could. This is a healthy development and lets look at the positive side indicating we are on the track of progress. Lets all of us call the members Admin have asked us.
News from Oh Law:
05/18/2008: Frustrated Hispanic Caucus Exploded on the Door Step of Congress
Report indicates that they've held a press conference on the steps of a House office building to denounce their leadership's willingness to cater to immigration critics by holding hearings on enforcement measures proposed by endangered Democratic moderates. Rep. Joe Baca, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, was steamed. Latinos had become a political "punching bag" this year, the California Democrat complained recently, attacked by "the misinformed" and "the misguided." They've threatened to block progress on immigration proposals backed by business interests and pushed by key Democrats, such as special visas for high-tech workers or agricultural help, unless leaders also move forward with comprehensive immigration legislation. Lawmakers in the 20-member Hispanic Caucus know they are not going to get their political wish this year: another shot at comprehensive immigration legislation, something that died in the Senate last year. But they are frustrated that their party has not been aggressive at pushing back against the heated rhetoric of the Right. If alienated Latinos stay home from the polls in November, it could cost Democrats dearly in closely contested local elections in Texas, Arizona and other states. And if Hispanics conclude that their party is no different on immigration than Republican presidential candidate John McCain — a longtime supporter of comprehensive reform— it could tip the balance to the GOP in presidential contests in swing states such as New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado.
The CHC has a single point agenda and that is amnesty for illegals. They feel that if they have the issues for legal immigrants tied along with this, they can try to obtain this amnesty in the guise of "comprehensively reforming the entire US immigration system". They are single minded and will not waver because of repeated communication from us legal immigrants. We are not a consideration for them and they will do their best to torpedo our bill. I think a better plan would be to target all the other legislators and let them know how we feel and how important this bill is for us future citizens. This is just my opinion and is not intended to demoralise anyone or hamper this campaign.

Since the DREAM Act has already got a lot of traction, it might be easier to try to attach the issue of aged-out children with it, rather than trying for something new like amendment to CSPA. A simple amendment will solve the problem for most aged-out children: remove the following words from Sec. 4(a)(1)
"who is inadmissible or deportable from the United States"
That will make the Act apply to all children, not just undocumented. I am sure most congressmen will readily agree, it might actually help change some no votes. It makes no sense to cover only undocumented children and keep other children out.
My information:
1. Your Contact Information: (Send me a PM)
2. State Where You Live: Claifornia
3. Your Employment-Based Category (EB2)
4. Your Country of Origin (India)
5. Your Child's Date of Birth: 06-25-1983
6. Your Case Priority Date: 08-30-2002
7. Date Visa was available: 07-01-2007
8. Date DOL approved your Labor Certification: 06-14-2007
9. Date I-140 was sent: 06-29-2007
10. Date I-140 was approved: 07-23-2007
11. Anything Else You may Want to Add: (The original labor was EB3. We filed another labor onder PERM EB2 in May 2007 that has been approved. Currently trying to port the earlier PD to EB2 case)

With this attitude and arrogance, I rarely think there would be motivation for anyone to do anything for IV.
I started discussion by asking , how can IV convince me that my donation is going to help, I got shot down by ARROGANT ******** and got all reds as if I care. I was planning on a charity/donation drive of my own to get some money for IV.
Know lot of consultants, who really dont know what to do with their miles with every one a executive airline status.
Already have 10+ people pledging Poker tournament from my poker group with their miles for Airlines and hotels. We are talking of a Million AA miles.
Indian restaurants(s) having a Immigration week where a dollar of each bill be given to IV.
I was even thinking of standing at Indian stores in Dallas to ask people to consider for IV cause, as long as I believed and hence was asking.
I was just getting started with so many ideas for my free time.
Good luck in what ever you do guys. Note that GC is not everything and note that I am still on extended H1, family on H1 and EAD never helped me. so assumption that EAD helped my life is baseless. All these hypocrites are long gone from IV once they get GC. All we get is response that Mr X or Y , even after getting GC, is working fro cause. How can I believe.
Any organization can be successful if there are questions answered and not shot down. Just working at DC doesnt make some one a strong contributor for IV.Work at grass root level is so imp. What I have noticed is any one who went to DC has become headstrong, egoist and arrogant as if they own IV.
Please read my initial post before commenting. I always said, I am for IV cause. just convince me so that I can convince some one

I have applied for birth certificate at Indian Consulate, SFO and received from them. They simply attested the information on my Passport on their letter head..will that be sufficient or I should get it from MRO/etc from India?
The birth certificate you get from the Consulate is not sufficient for I-485. If you don't have a birth certificate from the Municipal corporation of the city where you were born: then you need a Non-Availability certificate from that Municipal Corporation + 2 affidavits from close relatives.
Check with your lawyer for more information.

It is also important for us to realize if we let go of this opportunity we could be in for a very very long wait.
When IV was not there, we had no hopes, no one could do anything, now IV and the volunteers have taken the initiative, least we can do is support them.
We all deserve a better life and more respect in this country.
Next few months are most critical for us, please take a step forward and contribute.
It is not a forever contribution, next 6 months are most important. You also have the option to cancel ur subscription when u want.

Come to think of it, Sec. Rice said it was a case of miscommunication between the 2 agencies. Could it be that USCIS actually wanted them to make these dates current in August and DOS jumped the gun, and lot of people got screwed.
