As long as your orig employer does not complain(which i hardly doubt anyone will do) you are fine, worst case scenario if someone does, then its not a big hurdle to cross with an able attorney's help.
Just to put your mind at ease, i have several friends(not friend-of-a-friend) who had quit at various intervals (1-2-3 months) after getting their GC's and haven't faced a single issue while in process of becoming a citizen.
In short its better to be safe than sorry so these attorneys suggest staying for atleast 180 days.
If that is the case, then why is it that all immigration attorneys are asking us to stay with our current employers citing this "Intent" thing? Are you saying that it's all smoke and no fire?

None so far. No updates from the Lawyer or any LUD change. My I485 RD is 08/16/07, and NSC has not reached that date as yet. My lawyer's office called and the response was "The request is attached to the file (485)". I called NSC and the IO there DO NOT know the meaning of Interfiling and the IO I got was very rude and in a hurry to finish the call. She said that these officers should not give us (AOS Adjustees) any info, please inform me if any USCIS officer has broken that rulw. I said no one has and finished the call. Now, I am waiting, as have been for last six years for various things on the GC journey, for NSC I485 Processing status to go beyond Aur/16/2007. Once it does, I will call them again.

5. This employer is a consulting company...(desi) & they asked me to sign a financial agreement to repay their expenses on labor substitution/I-140/I-485...if I will leave them early. ...Is it legal to ask for such kind of agreement...?

Asking you to sign an agreement is not illegal. There are employers (even big names) who ask their employees to take care of the expenses for GC processing. The main concern should be to verify if this company practices fraud. The only way to check is either by searching on the web or talking to some other employees who work for this consultant (making sure these employees are also not part of the fraud).
I am sure you have heard about people like Nick Mandalapa who were filing multiple I-140 for the same labor certification . The sad part is that there is no USCIS online system to verify if a labor certification was used to successfullly file I-140/485.
And remember that if there is fraud it can haunt you ater in your life even "AFTER" you get your GC. USCIS can revoke your GC at any time if there is a proof that a fraud has occured in the process.

what is that single document that will define legal status of a person?
visa stamp is what ppl presume..is indicative of status..we all know that it is not.
I 94..to some extent unless you changed status to H1 from F1 and did not go for H1 stamping..then you have to show the I 797 approval form..now..where will this madness stop
now how can a cop understand and verify all of this crap..and anyway..they give out licenses to only legal residents.

I received an RFE from NSE on Sep 2nd week asking me to prove that I have 5 years of experience after completion of degree.
Country: India
Date of Joining with current employer : Jan 2006.
PERM Filing/ Approval Date: Aug 2006.
I-485/ EAD filing Date: July 2007.
I-140 RFE received date: Sep 2007.
The RFE reads as follows.

I finished my school in Dec 2000 and never had to go to the school except for one exam in 2001 and another one in June 2002. (In my university, examinations are conducted only once in 8 months). I checked my transcripts that were sent along with I-140 and it has the dates of 2001 and June 2002 due to the examination. Its present at the bottom along with Main date of Dec 2000.
I had placed the course completion certificate from my college along with the I-140 application and it looks like INS don't take that info consideration.
I am in deep trouble now. Your help is greatly appreciated. My attorney didn't find these issues before filing the labor certification on EB2.
The newspaper ad given before filing the labor certification asks for Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience.
Please help me by sharing your experience(s) as well as comments. I will really appreciate your time and effort.

An attorney friend of mine is saying that those actions (MTR/ Appeal) will only keep the labor and I-140 on hold/pending, but won't keep the EAD alive. Is there a way I can keep my EAD alive by those motions?

I understand you don’t care about the United States and its people and you’re only interested in what you can gain from them but if you weren’t so blinded by greed you’d see this is something else they can give to you. Now I know why I took the route I did, I would have accomplished far less in my personal life with the likes of you. In fact, I may doing to much sharing my expertise with you. For expediting Interfiling, nothing in specific. I called USCIS 3-4 times and did one infopass visit. Everytime, the answer was same, "No Information". Few times it was difficult to explain to them what interfiling is. Then, I learnt to say "PD Amendment" (My lawyer used that term) with the two separate approved I140s. I called USCIS last Friday (Jul/18/2008), and they told me to wait 4-5 MONTHS. You can see how much off they are and IIO and IO work for the same USCIS. It is Ludicrous.
Best of Luck to you guys. Hope your GC is approved soon.

Contact attoreny ASAP why/how it has happened. As he represnts you, USCIS acts upon his request to withdraw. However, he has to make such requsest only upon your written communication to withdraw the application. Therefore, find out whose mistake it is (law firm or USCIS).

- I have a letter I wrote to the attorney asking them to withdraw the representation. and the letter clearly states that.
- I have a copy of the letter the attorney sent to USCIS and this letter is clearly asking USCIS to withdraw the case.
The error is with the Attorney and it is one of the big immigration firms.
What really bothers me is that the error is not on USCIS's part but the error is of the Attorney so I am afraid that USCIS may not be too inclined to reinstate the case.

Under predictions for the following months, it is noted that the demand for numbers has not materialized because of persistent backlog. To move things forward they have moved ahead the dates for ROW and the Phillipines. They have also stated that in the future months, they may continue this to include other areas and preference categories. This sounds like good news for those who have their labor certification completed. They also add a caveat that this advancement of dates may lead to eventual sudden and significant backlog in the future when the demand for numbers does materialize (read: when the backlog is actually cleared)

Filed at NSC on Jul 21st. Received as per FedEx receipt on Jul 23rd. Transferred I-485s, EADs and APs applications from NSC to CSC.
Received EADs and APs on Sept 25th from CSC.
Sept 18th notice received that I-485s have been moved back from CSC to NSC.
Rceipt date for transfer notice is Sept 18th. Dont see my actual Jul 23rd date anywhere.
When I posted this on , posters suggested that there is a "Receipt Notice" versus a "Transfer Notice".
My lawyer received the receipt notice. Will check with him about the Receipt date on that notice and post later today.
Any other ideas what this all means would be appreciated.

I have had 1 friend go through this. In his case he decided to go through the "India Doctors Association" and they refered him to this OBGYN who helped him as community service. She didnt charge anything for her own fees but he had to pay the clinic for tests. For hospital he just put his hands up and didnt pay a penny - it ofcourse spoiled his credit but he didnt care as the amount was so unrealistically high for him (wife had c section so it costs like 40-50k).
I did a quick google and there is something called the "North Texas Indian Physicians Charitable Foundation " contact them and Im sure they will help you out by working with one of their members.

2) Hopefull signifies optimism. A pessimist is an optimist who is very analytical or knows better. Your argument is similar to "And they lived happily ever after ...(after singing around green trees) ...." ignoring the ground reality, facts that no dent has been made and also turninga blind eye to the fact that there are people since 2001/2002 stuck. Its 2007 meaning five years and if the Dept is not willing to budge after all these efforts to a number more than 7000, and you still are HOPEFULL ignoring the facts means that you are an idiot. No human being is gaining anything in making several hundred thousand people to wait at a point in their lives. I hope that you get your green card long before everybody else. And I hope that you keep you FT job and you progress in your life more so than you expect.
Around 3 weeks back I got my green card. And if there was a way for me to give you my green card, I would have done so gladly. I did my masters in US a few years back and for couple of years during and just after my school years, a part of me used to think that working in consulting firm was below my standard and people getting education in US university are the only worthy human beings. After having lived through few years of my life at my job, now I have "slightly" matured from my yester years. Now I think that number of degrees doesn’t make some one better than others without a degree. I have worked at a full time job for last 7 years in a Fortune 10 company. Some of my best friends work for consulting companies and these are fine gentlemen. I have learnt a lot from my friends. In the end, I think it makes no difference how many degrees one earned or whether one is working for a consulting firm or at a FT. What we are made of is reflected in our behavior towards others around us and it has nothing to do with the number of masters degrees one has earned. Anyways, hope you get your green card soon and you do well in life. And I hope that you become source of peace and joy for others around you.
