Have you just tried to sell Day trading to IVians?? LMAO. I am sorry but I disagree that Day trading is an investment. Day trading is risky business and one needs plush amounts of cash as SIPC/SEC will not release the money on the same day. Don't even get me started on the margin accounts.
I agree with (2) and would also like to point out that the risks are also substantial. One can get addicted to day trading and I dont need to tell what addiction can do to any one. It needs time during work hours. ie 9 30 am and 4 30 pm. A lot of people did day trading during the dot com boom and recently with FRE & FNM. We know the results.
While you might have taken refuge in day trading for the stress immigration has caused, it can be a serious double whammy/nightmare if the calculations go wrong.

If someone is responsible for the current state of affairs in the H1B area , It is Indian firms . The H1B1 was started in 'GOOD FAITH ' by United States to help people from "all over the world" to come in and work in the US , but large Indian IT houses have overexploited these loopholes so much that we are currently in this sorry state of affairs . In their greed for higher and higher profits(every Indian firm hits 30% profits every quarter ) they have spoiled a perfectly working program a few years ago to such a state that now getting an H1B has got less nothing to do with talent but has become like buying a supperlotto ticket .Below is a very good article from the "Economic Policy Institute " that highlights the fact that 2 well known Indian firms have single handedly lapped up 65% of H1B visas last year and have applied for just 69 green cards . Thats a GC application rate of 0.0004%. i Cannot help agree with the facts in this article. I totally agree that firms like these which abuse the system ought to be severely punished and blacklisted, so that geniunine US companies can get their required workers , when they need them . As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

I googled to find any cases similar to the one I have now, by no luck.
My wife was out of status for more than 6 months while she was on H1-b by not working. To put her back on status, my attorney advised to make her go out of the country and come back on H4 visa. Her status now is H4 and has maintained it since the last entry to US. I have maintained my H1-B status since 3 years and got paid for every day.
Is it possible, my I-485 is approved (primary applicant) and her I-485 denied (dependent) due to her prior out-of-status on H1-B? Her current status as mentioned in the I-485 forms is H4.
Please advice.

Whatever you earn from Trading is taxable as your earned income. On the flip side if you ve made losses there is a provision for some tax deduction as well . Contact a good Tax consultant

Also it suggest that there should be minimum equity balance of 25K, are they referring to the value of stocks...

Don’t blame non-contributing members too much. They are also frustrated with the retrogression and wish for a relief. $20/mon is not a big deal for most high skilled professionals. But what if someone didn’t get the message? What if someone doesn’t have a paypal account? There should be some other ways for people to pledge the money and make sure it will be used wisely. I guess the right strategy is how to reach more people with the correct information. Honestly speaking, I don’t know how many of 8400 really got this message.
If there are 200 online users and IV already got 128 contributing members, the percentage looks pretty amazing to me. There will be more, of course, when they get to know this and come to the website, read and understand that they have a chance and also a responsibility to help themselves by doing this.

For Indians we had vaccination in India at our childhood. Due to this some will get positive results in the skin test. Then doctor is going to recommends for chest x-ray. Some of the doctor's are going to overlook this. Because the medical report is a sealed cover we don�t know what number he written in the medical examination form. You can ask the doctor.
And one more thing is for skin test we have wait couple of days.
From my experience I recommend others to go for x-ray. In my case my immigration doctor, he written 5mm as reaction for skin test. USCIS sent RFE on this to go for x-ray.
I gone for x-ray and answered the RFE immediately.
A chest x-ray is required only if the reaction to the TB skin test is 5mm or greater.

EB2 and EB3 care about what is happening because i have seen EB2 guys on this forum talk about the EB3 backlog and on the flip side there are EB3 guys who are working with IV on whatever garden path they are being led on.
My effort is to make IV core aware of the fact that maximum EB3 guys do not believe in IV direction. Now that is an eye opener and if IV really believes that they they are a representative of all EB they must face the fact that they do not have support of maximum of EB3 folks
Now if IV comes up with some genuine action items which will relieve the pressure on EB3 then they will see that EB3 folks will start believing in this whole lobbying and advocacy effort.
For example this 55k bill could include terms for EB3. Now no one from IV is talking about that and one enlightened eb2 volunteer says let the bill come through then we can include but if IV does not talk about it now how will any EB3 believe that IV would do in crunch time
The usual spiel of IV stating once EB2 becomes current EB3 will move will not hold water any longer because IV cannot promise that EB2 will come to a point where it has no more apps and spillover will go to EB3.
So that mean the whole IV approach is flawed

My daughter's pp expired March '06. We live in FL, so we need to apply to the Houston center.
So do we (a) apply for a new passport? or is it still 'renewal'?
(b) send renewal fees? how much - is it the same for an adult pp?
Believe me, I have searched all over, up-and-down, for any info on this specific situation (child pp, expired more than one year) but in vain :(.

i met a guy like this last weekend. came to US 2/3 yrs back. has masters in India and has 5 yrs total experience. not doing any research. He is actually a contractor at a client. the employer, applied his GC under EB1. he got GC under 1yr. I was amazed.
he says, his employer applied for few of his other colleagues too, but rejected. most amazingly, for one of his boss (1 or 2 levels above him) also they applied under EB1 but his app was rejected. unbelievable stuff. i guess the EB1 verification is random.
Be so bothered about this trend if it was not siphoning away green card numbers from people who have paid taxes for so many years, played by the rules and still don't have anything to show for it. Plus under EB1 these guys completely skip the labor cert system and escape the brunt of DOL inefficiency.
Nowadays with job openings I'm seeing that the lowest common denominator is taken over a better qualified candidate, the differentiator being GC. If that's the case these guys/gals gaming the system will one day be our bosses. And we with our degrees and experience will have no other option but so say "Yes sir" to these chumps who got lucky.
I'm honestly thinking of writing a letter to the CIS director asking them to please scrutinize these applications closely.

Nowadays with job openings I'm seeing that the lowest common denominator is taken over a better qualified candidate, the differentiator being GC. If that's the case these guys/gals gaming the system will one day be our bosses. And we with our degrees and experience will have no other option but so say "Yes sir" to these chumps who got lucky.
I'm honestly thinking of writing a letter to the CIS director asking them to please scrutinize these applications closely.

Still Waiting... Frustrated after seeing so many approval from 12/04.

No luck for me so far. I wonder how many of 2004 EB2s are still waitng ..like me

No I'm not, I am in no way associated with them, and I could care less. Yes I know how to stand on my feet thanks. This is not a time to divide people.
Any better sugegstions for immigration lawyer then? Or do you just keep trashing other people, without giving any genuine ideas.

According to there are only a few approvals for EB3 ROW in April so far.....
